VyStar is a member-owned, member-managed financial cooperative founded in 1952 to serve military service members and civil service workers. Today they are one of the largest credit unions in the United States with over 825,000 members across the country.
A big part of VyStar’s brand DNA is their “commitment to improving the places we call home,” which includes the design of their branches – and even parking garages.
For their seven-story parking garage in Jacksonville, Florida, VyStar’s architect and contractor sought to create a dynamic facade design that would also provide sufficient ventilation and withstand inclement weather. We were hired by the contractor to provide design assist and preliminary engineering services, including the use of our proprietary software that allows us to provide clients with an efficient and cost-effective design.
VyStar’s logo features prominently on the parking garage. This was accomplished by coordinating closely with the sign manufacturer to ensure that the fabricated holes lined up with the sign outriggers.
The resulting 3D facade morphs into a roof canopy as it approaches the top of the structure, covering the portions of the roof and providing protection from the sun.
Our turnkey cladding solution allowed VyStar and the architect to achieve a unique design at a much lower cost than metal mesh.
