Forest Travel is a corporate travel agency servicing clients across the globe. For its new Miami headquarters, the architecture team created a design based on several repeating shapes. The design for the adjacent parking garage included oval shapes that mirrored those used throughout the main building. We were engaged by the project architecture firm in the value-engineering phase to create a lower-cost alternative to the original metal cladding design that would also withstand Miami’s high wind conditions. We provided design-assist to reimagine a tensile facade that would achieve the original design intent and maintain a level of 50% open ventilation. FlexFacades cladding screens covering approximately 4,600 square feet were custom screenprinted with the same oval shapes as used in the building architecture, causing the ovals to appear as though they are carved out of the facade. The client was able to realize the design vision at a significantly lower cost.
