Studio Park is an entertainment complex in Grand Rapids, Michigan, featuring a movie theater, music venue, hotel, restaurants, shops, and a parking garage.
The 933-car parking garage presented a unique engineering challenge. The owners sought a facade solution that would provide protection from the sun and seasonal inclement weather, but the garage structure is completely open on the sides with only cable rails and no crash walls. We chose modular panels because they are more structurally rigid than other products. We also engineered a custom clip system that would allow the panels to be installed even without a supporting framework from the garage itself.
The FlexFacades modular panel system was ideal for the Studio Park parking garage. It’s able to span floor-to-floor and is self-supporting, allowing it to extend beyond the physical structure of the parking garage.
